Governments have been pursuing policies to increase economic benefits from mining through greater linkages to the domestic economy (“local content”) for decades. During this session, the IGF Secretariat will present findings of a report on lessons learned from these policies. This will be followed by a panel discussion reflecting on the challenges of local content policies and a floor discussion.
