Anna Apler is a senior geologist and researcher at the Geological Survey of Sweden, where she has worked since 2007. She specializes in sustainability issues related to the mining industry and mineral production at national, regional, and global levels.

Her career has included extensive work in marine geology, with research cruises focusing on seabed mapping and environmental and resource management for blue growth and marine protection. Between 2014 and 2021, she pursued doctoral studies at Uppsala University, where her research examined the impacts of historically deposited seabed waste on aquatic systems. This resulted in a PhD in natural resources and sustainable development.

Today, Anna combines her expertise in marine management and mineral resource governance to address challenges of responsible and just mineral extraction, both on land and in deep-sea environments.
