Elena Cornaro is a policy advisor for gender equality and social inclusion with IISD's Economic Law and Policy program, which hosts the IGF Secretariat. She works on integrating gender equality and social inclusion into sustainable policy frameworks and strategies across economic sectors - including mining, agriculture, energy, transport, and infrastructure. At the IGF Secretariat, Elena supports member states to ensure that their mining governance frameworks manage risks for women and marginalized populations, while creating more inclusive socioeconomic benefits for all. Prior to joining IISD, Elena worked on women's and labour rights, including at UN Women, the Council of Europe, and civil society organisations. Originally Austrian, Elena speaks fluent English, German, and French.
