Mikael Anzén is the current ambassador to the WTO for Sweden since 2018.
In the WTO Mikael is the chair of the working party of the accession of Somalia to the WTO and the chairman of the Steering Committee of the Enhanced Integrated Framework. He was the chair of the Council for Trade in Goods (2020-2021). Mikael was also discussant for Costa Rica’s Trade Policy Review in 2019 as well as for Tonga in 2021.
Before coming to Geneva, Mikael worked at the MFA in Stockholm, as a head of unit, responsible for the WTO and EU trade. Before that Mikael was involved in the Swedish Chairmanship of the Arctic Council and as the chair of the Sustainable Development Working Group, where Mikael worked actively in the creation of the Arctic Economic Council. Mikael started his career in the Swedish MFA in 2002 and has held different posts on trade issues, in Stockholm, four years at the permanent representation in Brussels, working with trade policy, as well as at the permanent representation to the WTO in 2005-06. Mikael has a master’s degree in political science from Stockholm’s University and a diploma from Institute des Sciences Politiques in Grenoble, France.
