Trade Tensions and Climate Change: Obstacles and solutions
Organizer
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP
Description
This session will bring together solar deployment advocates to show how trade policies help achieve common goals to battle climate change. Allowing international markets to identify the best suppliers helps achieve these goals, and international subsidy and trade remedy rules help ensure that suppliers are not gaining an unfair and distortive advantage over their international competitors. These policies, sometimes considered to be in tension with each other, are in fact complementary. Free trade and pro-environmental interests are therefore aligned and should be viewed as allies in the fight against climate change.
