African agrifood systems face the dual challenge of fostering economic growth while ensuring food security, preserving ecosystems, and building resilience. Achieving these goals requires coherent agricultural and trade policies, aligned nationally and regionally under initiatives such as CAADP, the Kampala Declaration, and the AfCFTA. Limited access to reliable policy data, however, constrains informed decision-making, coordination, and trust among stakeholders.

This session will showcase how policy monitoring indicators from the AgIncentives Consortium (FAO, IDB, IFPRI, OECD, World Bank) are helping African governments and stakeholders make evidence-based decisions. Transparent data strengthens accountability, improves alignment between national objectives and regional trade commitments, and supports balanced sustainability—economic, social, and environmental. International partners will also discuss how such frameworks complement WTO disciplines and foster trust among trading partners.

Participants will gain practical insights into how transparent, data-driven policy analyses can optimize agricultural support measures, foster trade integration, and enhance policy dialogue across domestic, regional, and multilateral frameworks. The session will highlight examples of AgIncentives in action, demonstrating how measurement and transparency can accelerate sustainable agrifood transformation and improve alignment between policy, trade, and development goals.
