Trade is often seen as part of the climate problem—but it can also be part of the solution. Beyond emissions and supply chain risks, trade can support climate adaptation by improving access to essential goods and services, from resilient crops to efficient irrigation systems.
This session will explore how trade policy and politics can advance climate adaptation goals. Speakers will examine the barriers that limit access to climate-resilient goods and services, as well as the tools and strategies governments can use to align trade and adaptation goals. The discussion will highlight how embedding adaptation priorities into trade policy can strengthen climate resilience, support sustainable development, and shift global trade debates toward a more inclusive, climate-responsive agenda.
