Description

This session will explore how governments can revisit trade policy frameworks to improve resilience of the global food system to future shocks, particularly for LDCs and other developing countries. It will reflect on what are the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change on global markets for food and agriculture; and what governments could do to ensure that trade policy contributes to achieving the SDGs in the current market and policy environment. Lastly, the session will create a space for policy-makers and other participants to explore what progress can be achieved in the near future, including through synergies with other policy areas key in achieving food for all, notably climate action and digital transformation.
